Around the Lake 2006

by Toni

We had a great trip around Lake Michigan this year!  Instead of cutting through the middle via ferry we went all the way around, an adventure that took us through Indiana, Michigan, the Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin, and then back to Illinois.  The weather was warm and sunny the entire weekend, with the exception of some thunderstorms that came through Traverse City, MI, on Sunday morning, but quickly disappeared.

We had a great group of riders and we averaged 300 mile days, with a total of 1136 miles total.  Our average speed was around 50 m.p.h., which would have been higher had we not taken time to enjoy the twisties and gravel roads in Michigan!  The UP was beautiful, and we all discussed a possible future trip around Lake Superior, which we were told is just as beautiful of a ride.

A great and safe time was had by all and we look forward to next years trip!

Many thanks to Rob and Andi for sharing their pictures and ride stats!
